The Christmas Bee

On December 12, 2013, Central Christian Academy will be having the world premier of Dr. Bob Gage’s musical The Christmas Bee. This musical is based on the story of Benjamin Bee who has the unique opportunity to view the birth of Jesus in the sheep’s manager in Bethlehem. He observes the arrival of May and Joseph and helps the innkeeper find a place for them to stay. Benjamin was there when the angels appeared to shepherds. He and Queen Bee Ruth are there when Jesus is born. They teach us the importance of worshipping the new born King. Throughout the story the great Christmas carols are sung, to make this a wonderful experience for the audience.

Dr. Bob Gage has ministered as a teen evangelist, youth pastor, Bible conference speaker and pastor since 1956.  He worked with inner-city youth in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Chattanooga, Tennessee. He served as pastor at some of America’s most historic Baptist churches including The First Baptist Church, Hackensack, New Jersey; and Wealthy Street Park Baptist Church, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Christmas Bee originated in December 2005 on a trip to Anchorage, Alaska, when Dr, Gage and his wife, Mary, were visiting the grandchildren in Alaska.  Ana and Abbey Frey asked their grandfather to tell them a story. Rather than reading from a story book, Dr. Gage noted the presence of large form bumble bee and used it to tell the girls the Christmas story. On the return trip to New York City, Gage wrote out the manuscript for the story of Benjamin Bee, and how he would have seen the events of the first Christmas.
